Ahead of the PILnet Global Forum 2025, Justice Research Institute paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria. Discussions centred on the Council’s role in Nigeria’s access-to-justice architecture and on the case West Africa would carry to the Forum in Rome.
The Director-General confirmed his participation as a speaker at JRI’s session on people-centred justice in November. The visit reflects a working partnership between independent justice research and the country’s principal statutory legal aid provider.
Reform proposals gain traction when research institutions and statutory legal aid bodies arrive at international fora with a coordinated national position.
