Capacity Development Training

The Justice Research Institute undertakes research, policy development and capacity building for operators and stakeholders across sectors. In the last few years, JRI has had its focus on the public sector, particularly, government parastatals and civil society organisations.

Some of our work includes the provision of training and induction courses for magistrates and judges of Lagos State Judiciary, the facilitating of sharing-meetings and round tables on new Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and the Child Rights Law, board retreat for members of the board of the Lagos State Judicial Service Commission as well as several capacity building workshops for prosecutors, investigators and officials of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

JRI also implemented capacity building seminars for internal and external solicitors of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation. In 2019, JRI organised the yearly NDIC’s sensitisation seminar for Federal High Court Judges to develop their capacity with the goal of keeping Judges abreast of current trends in Deposit Insurance Law and practices; as well as advances in DIS practices around the world.

Staying Out Of Trouble series

Inspired by the story of Mr. Brad Sadler, the staying out of trouble series is an engaging and insightful sensitisation lecture on anti-corruption. The objective of the seminar series is to inform and sensitises individuals, especially senior public officials and corporate organisations on the current local and international anti-corruption legislation and regulations, and also to serve as a deterrent from engaging in corrupt practices.
