The primary aim of The Orderly society Trust is to nurture and support institutions, ideas, values, practices and conventions which support ‘order’ in society.
The Orderly Society Trust seeks to intervene in the process of finding answers to the difficult issues of creating an Orderly Society by promoting initiatives which support:
The dissemination of ethics of integrity, patriotism, hard work, respect
for
obligation and etiquette.
In line with these objectives The Orderly Society Trust will also be working with The Ford Foundation on a number of projects. One of such is themed ‘Making the Local Governance Work for the Poor in Nigeria’. The expected duration for the project is four years. The aim of this project is to improve public understanding of the factors affecting the quality of governance at the local council level and promote the pro-poor local governance in Nigeria.The project will be expected to have the following success indicators:
Wider and more informed public understanding (especially within mass media) of the central role of the local government in democratic governance in democratic governance and citizen-centered service delivery in Nigeria;
An authoritative study in the state governance in Nigeria;
Credible and widely acclaimed biennial scorecards on the service delivery performed by local government for pro-poor service delivery and democratic accountability; and
Submission of excellent annual narrative and financial report on the project
The proponents of the Trust strongly believe that the principles of integrity, patriotism, hard work, respect for obligation and etiquette constitute important pillars in the pursuit of an Orderly Society. The Trust will therefore promote initiatives which seek to disseminate these principles.
The Trust is founded by Prof. and Mrs Yemi Osinbajo, while also honoring the memories of some of the dearest people to the Osinbajo family who are now departed but for whom one aspect or the other was a passion. They are Isaac Opeolu Osinbajo (1919-1996) Oluwatoyin Osinbajo (1962-2006).
