About JRI

The Justice Research Institute (Ltd. Gte.) (JRI) , Lagos is a justice policy and research centre established in 2005 in Lagos, Nigeria.  It is affiliated to the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Akoka. 

JRI undertakes research and policy development work in the justice and administration of justice sectors.

 

Leadership

JRI’s  Board of Directors comprises  persons of demonstrated integrity and prominent legal practitioners who are consistent advocates of reforms in the administration of justice sector in Nigeria.


Mrs. Maryam  Uwais, Board member,  is  the Principal Partner,  Wali- Uwais & Co.a and member of the board of  LEAP Africa. She is a Special Rapporteur on Children’s Rights and has served as a member of the Nigerian Human Rights Commission.

 


Prof.  Yemi Osinbajo, SAN , Board member , was the former Lagos State Attorney General who initiated and implemented a comprehensive justice reform strategy for the state.  He is a Professor of Public Law at the University of Lagos.

 


 Mr. Femi Falana
, Board member, is the President of the West Africa Bar Association.  Mr Falana has been in the forefront of campaigns for the protection  of civil rights in Nigeria.


The JRI Secretariat  is managed by Miss Foluso  Degrata Shado and Miss Koko Ekwere 
 

Miss Foluso De- Grata Shado is  responsible for coordinating the Institute’s projects developing programme contents . She is a Lawyer with a Masters degree in Human Rights and Democracy in Africa from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, South Africa.


Mrs Koko Idaresit Iyamu is the Institute’s Administrator. She is the grants’ manager and sees to the day to day running of the Elias Centre. Mrs Iyamu has a BSc degree in Sociology from the Ahmadu Bello University , Zaria.
